Description: This Signals layer was created in order to establish a baseline for the CityWorks work order and traffic data asset management system of Portland, Maine. Each Signal is designated by its Feature Type including Traffic Signal, School Flasher, PedFlasher, Traffic Flasher, Parking Ban, Lane Use, Informational Signal, Speed Monitor and PedLight. Each Signal has a unique ID and is linked to the unique ID of its respective Intersection, Pole(s) and Controller. Additional data on attributes of Signals useful for maintenance and management is included. Signals were digitized by Briana Fischella in the summer of 2018 to current status with a combination of Streetscan Imagery, 2015, 2017, and 2018 orthoimagery, and field verification for older imagery and newer infrastructure not captured in most recent imagery. Also in the summer of 2018, fields and domains for all Signals were refined by multiple meetings and discussions with Scott Ouillette, Kevin Thomas, Thea Youngs, Kevin Deneault, Frank Mackie, and Jeremiah Bartlett based on maintenance and management needs of digitized traffic information. These data fields involving attributes of assets useful for management and maintenance are included for each Signal. Ideally, these data will be updated through the CityWorks platform real-time as maintenance and servicing of assets occurs.

Description: This ControlBox layer was created for use with the CityWorks work order and traffic data asset management system of Portland, Maine. Each Control Box is designated by its Feature Type including Traffic Signal Controllers, School Flasher Controllers, PedFlasher Controllers, Traffic Flasher Controllers, Parking Ban Controllers, Speed Monitor Controllers, and Lane Use Controllers. Each Control Boxes has a unique ID and is linked to the unique ID of its respective intersection. Additional data on attributes of control boxes useful for maintenance and management is included. Control boxes were largely digitized based on the GIS layer sde.PORTGIS.TrafficLightControlBoxes originally digitized by Michelle Sweeney in 2006 and in updated by Thea Youngs in 2016, with assistance from Nasir Shir and Kevin Thomas in the summer of 2016 using staff knowledge and 2015 orthoimagery. These were updated by Briana Fischella in the summer of 2018 to current status with a combination of Streetscan imagery, 2015, 2017, and 2018 orthoimagery, and field verification for older imagery and newer infrastructure not captured in most recent imagery. Description: This Poles layer was created for use in the CityWorks work order and traffic data asset management system of Portland, Maine. Each Pole is designated by its main Pole Use including Traffic Signal, School Flasher, PedFlasher, Traffic Flasher, Parking Ban, Lane Use, PedLight, Speed Monitor, and PedButton. Each Pole has a unique ID and is linked to the unique ID of its respective Intersection and Controller. Additional data on attributes of Poles useful for maintenance and management is included. For example information on whether a Pole has a Signal, Sign, PedLight, PedButton, and/or Streetlight is present, each as an independent field in boolean format. Poles were digitized by Briana Fischella in the summer of 2018 to current status with a combination of Streetscan imagery, 2015, 2017 and 2018 orthoimagery, and field verification for older imagery and newer infrastructure not captured in most recent imagery. Description: This Signal Intersections layer was created in for use with the CityWorks work order and traffic data asset management system of Portland, Maine. Each Signal Intersection is designated by its main signal use including Traffic Signal, School Flasher, PedFlasher, Traffic Flasher, Parking Ban, Speed Monitor, or Lane Use. Each Signal Intersection has a unique ID and is linked to the unique ID of the main Control Box of the intersection. Additional data on attributes of Signal Intersections, such as Location, is included. Intersections were largely digitized based on the older GIS layer sde.PORTGIS.Traffic_Lights originally digitized by Michelle Sweeney in 2006 and updated byh Thea Youngs in 2016, in conjunction with Nasir Shir, and Kevin Thomas using staff knowledge and 2006 orthoimagery. These were updated by Briana Fischella in the summer of 2018 to current status with a combination of Streetscan imagery, 2015 orthoimagery, and field verification for older imagery and newer infrastructure not captured in most recent imagery.
